First up in May was Marugame Monzo.

Homemade udon with gourmet toppings such as uni, duck and pork belly, and unusual ones like carbonara and seafood tomato cream. Pretty good, except Oli made a mess and threw noodles everywhere, including in my soda. This pretty much called into question whether this tradition was ever going to happen again.

In July, we went to Tsurumaru udon honpo.
Another homemade udon restaurant with a more casual vibe located in the 3rd floor of the Little Tokyo Galleria. You pick the variety of udon you would like, and customize your toppings. Much less expensive than Monzo. (bowls start at 4 dollars). Oli threw a fit on the way there, but after he got the train he was really happy, and this time quietly sat and ate all this food during lunch. In addition to dessert, this trip also included a fruitful visit to the Woori market.
