Nightmares

Angry Cheese Face
Angry cheese face

Oli hasn't been sleeping too well at night for the past couple of weeks.  He's woken up crying and screaming "Mami!  Donde esta Mami!!!!" in the middle of the night at least 4 times in the past week.  I think he's been having nightmares because he sometimes starts crying about something he's been dreaming of when I come in to calm him down.

Last night it was, "Donde esta la manzana?!" ("Where is the apple?!").  When I calmed him down and asked him if he'd been dreaming of an apple, he said, "No, se cayo."  ("No, it fell down.")  I guess he can't tell the difference between dreams and reality yet.  He sometimes calms down enough to go back to sleep on his own, but a few times, like last night, he will freak out if we leave the room and he was awake for over 2 hours last night.  Then he woke up crying again 3 hours later, so we all piled into the futon in his room and he eventually snoozed again, only to wake up an hour later crying, "Tia Joyce, no!  Papi, no!"

Maybe it's a coincidence that this all started aroun the time he turned 2, or maybe it's the change in routine (Toto being gone, travel, vacation, cousins & grandparents in town).  At least Toto is back today (YAY!).  Hope things go back to normal soon.

Wow, Oli, you are getting to be a tough kid to take care! You have let Mami and Papi rest at night time, they have to go to work at day time! Be a good boy!

May be Oli has too much excitment in recent days since Christmas and too many people surrounding him. With the exception of tomorrow for his birthday party, thereafter, just let him alone in the house for a few days, without visitors or going out in a big group, he should be fine.
