First Pregnancy Food Craving?

I got hungry in the middle of a late-afternoon meeting today and suddenly a bowl of my grandma's papaya fish soup was what I wanted to have for dinner. When I got back to my desk, I looked up a recipe for it online, and one of the top search results was this article from Baby Center about papaya fish soup being a Chinese food that is supposed to boost a new mom's milk supply. I had no idea that it was supposed to have those properties. My grandma has always just made it for my sisters and me as we were growing up.

I decided to give the recipe a try tonight, but instead of taking half an hour, it's been boiling for over 2 hours and it's still not ready. Now I know why my grandma always starts the soup first thing in the morning.

Hola, Suelika,

Use fish bones, if you can fillet the fish, and head, otherwise, use the whole but chopped in a few pieces; stir fry the fish a bit; use a small green papaya, cut in pieces, a piece of ginger, and add salt. Boil it in low temperature for one and half to two hours.
Let us know how did it come out.

Good Luck! Pops

Yes yes, I had a lot of papaya fish soup during confinement. It is also supposed to help enhance breast development during adolescence. :)

Oh, iiiinteresting... I wonder what we would look like if we hadn't had any papaya fish soup growing up...

The soup turned out tasty, but not as tasty as my Apo's. She probably uses a lot more fish bones for the stock.
